Valentina Rosset is a Brazilian filmmaker & artist from São Paulo, currently based in Los Angeles.
She graduated from California Institute of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film/Video, where she developed a practice with filmmaking in analog film, editing, and acting. Her work seeks to explore how intimacies, gestures of daily life and artistic presentations create fictions and performances of their own. Her experimental short A Slippage in Five Movements premiered in Rotterdam Film Festival in 2024 and is now circulating in other festivals worlwide. She also works as a cinematographer and assistant camera, and has worked as an Archiving & Preservations assistant and Film Library assistant at CalArts, as well as a Teaching Assistant for Betzy Bromberg, Giulia Caruso, Corina Copp, among other faculty . In July 2024, she became a full-time Directing & Screenwriting Instructor for a one month program at California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA). She contributes with film writing to Los Experimentos cine blog, works as an Audiovisual Technician at the Hammer Museum, and is currently on production as an actor for Fractais Tropicais and in post-production for her upcoming directed short Fim de Rodovia.
